We have an exciting opportunity for a Team Member in our country village Inn, with restaurant, 6 letting bedrooms and a large beer garden. The Griffin Inn is just outside of Ruthin and has had a major overhaul to a very high standard. 

The pub is an important part of the local community and an attractive destination for tourists, visitors to North Wales and those en route to experience adventure in Snowdonia.

Nature/purpose of the job role: 

As a Team Member, you will be responsible for working with the Front of House, kitchen and housekeeping team members and ensuring customers have everything they need for a great experience. You will be a consistent point of contact for the kitchen and will maintain smooth service during our peak hours as well as being capable of working independently during quieter times. You will be energetic and love everything involving hospitality as well as being committed and 100% reliable.

Main Duties: 

  • A Team Member with excellent customer service skills
  • Working directly with the Manager/Owner, and the front of house waiting on team.
  • Taking food out, bar and restaurant, dessert and hot beverage ordering, clearing and wiping tables
  • Supporting the kitchen team as necessary to ensure an efficient food service.
  • Setting restaurant and bar tables
  • Serving customers at the bar, taking food orders and taking payments
  • Prepping kitchen areas for service, cutlery, crockery
  • Glass collection
  • Cash handling
  • Keeping bar and restaurant tables clear, clean and tidy
  • Dealing with guests staying in rooms and ensuring rooms are prepared properly.
  • Attending to any needs of the business

Qualifications: 

Essential: 

GCSE Maths and English Grade C or above

Experienced Bar work and/or Fine Dining service

Desirable:

Health and Safety and Food Hygiene certificates

Knowledge and skills: 

  • Have a broad and integrated knowledge and understanding of the scope, main areas and boundaries of the restaurant and catering sector; 
  • Able to practise in a range of professional-level contexts that include a degree of unpredictability; 
  • Identify and analyse routine professional problems and issues within a kitchen setting; 
  • Able to draw on a range of sources in making judgements; 
  • Can use a range of IT applications to support and enhance your work; 
  • Able to interpret, use and evaluate numerical and graphical data to set and achieve appropriate goals/targets; 
  • Experience in exercising autonomy and initiative in some activities at a professional level within a kitchen and restaurant; 
  • Able to take some responsibility for the work of others and for a range of appropriate resources.
  • Welsh language skills are desirable.

Hours of work: 

Varied hours of work. 

Weekends, bank holidays, school holidays and evening working on a rota is essential.
